Long time no see.....

Wednesday, May 27, 2009
To my readers....
I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend! Ours was very relaxing - going camping, playing ultimate frisbee, and grilling out/playing games with friends. It was wonderful to have an extra long weekend! The sad part is that no pictures were taken! =(This Friday is the Gaither Homecoming concert (I got tickets for my birthday)!! I'm taking my dad with me - it should be a blast - and there should be plenty of pictures about that!
I have something to ask of all of YOU! Towards the top of my sidebar, I have a poll that I would like everyone to vote on. I want to know what you would like to see more of on my blog. More family photos and random happenings in our lives.....revival updates and photos.....passages of Scripture and quotes.....more recipes from Tori's Tasty Tuesdays.....or do you have another suggestion? I want to know what you think! If you select other, please leave me a comment letting me know your idea. So head on over to the poll and cast your votes (you can select more than one)!

Chicago and Sidebars
This is a picture of the gorgeous skyline of Chicago - we took it last March when we were there and I am extremely excited because we are going back in two weeks!! I love it - it was so beautiful and I loved all the excitement and the hustle and bustle! So, this is a rather random post, because no camera + no exciting events = no pictures.
So keeping that in mind, I would like to do something I've never done before. I don't know how many of you have ever browsed through my sidebar, but I wanted to highlight some of the things that are on there.
I'd like to encourage you to visit our ministry website: www.delrittgersministries.com . It's full of things to look at - including our ministry schedule, more photos, and a guestbook you can sign! =)
The "Followers" section of my sidebar I'd really like you check out! If you are not yet a follower of my blog, please become one!
Check out the "Fireproof" movie website - they have so much to offer there!
Be sure to look at all the blogs on my blogroll - they are all fabulous and are fun to look at!
If there is one thing I would really encourage you to look at, it would The Rebelution website. It is full of amazing things - I encourage all teenagers, in particular, to read "Do Hard Things" by Brett and Alex Harris, the founders of the The Rebelution. It's an amazing book!
I just recently added the search engine to my sidebar - if there is a certain topic you want to read about on my blog, just search it, and all posts that had to do with that topic will pop up!
Be sure to check out my Playlist - those songs on there are some of my favorites!
At the bottom of my sidebar, there's a place where you can subscribe to my blog! Subscribe today! =)
So that's basically what I wanted to highlight - of course check out the rest of the sidebar (favorite websites, archives, and etc.)!
This may have been a pointless, boring post, but I hope somebody enjoyed it. I promise an exciting post really soon! =)

Y-M-C-A
So, mom and I decided to head to the gym to try out the equipment. We went strutting in there like we knew what we were doing - but we quickly found out we didn't. We had NO idea how to start the treadmills! We finally had to ask this lady how to start it, which was kind of embarrassing. We quickly found out that we had nothing over all of those other young girls there - we're over here walking on our little 3.5 speed, sweating and ready to get off, while everyone else is jogging at a 6.5, at least! Finally, I got up my courage to try jogging, but that only lasted about a whopping 2 minutes.
Yesterday, dad and mom took me with them to the Y and taught me how to play racquetball! It was quite an experience! I couldn't quite get the hang of serving and kept forgetting one of the top rules of the game: never look behind you! I also felt the pain of getting hit with the ball when I hit myself (yes, myself) in the stomach.....I wouldn't recommend doing that.
So, needless to say, today I am sore. Very sore. My arms, shoulders, back, legs, and feet are aching. I cannnot believe how out of shape I am! But all the more reason to keep working out!
I am now off to hum my now favorite song!
Y-M-C-A, it's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A........

A new place I visited: Downtown Chicago (so pretty!)
An inspiring verse or quote I read: "But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;"

A bad case of....
First, I should ask: what do you all think of the new background?
Our fall slate has been filling up - in fact, Deanna and Dad are currently in Newton, Iowa, for a revival. This Friday we are off to Goodland, Kansas - please pray for safe travels as it is a long drive!
Please take a look at our current schedule on the right side of the page - this fall we will be traveling to a couple of different states, including Illinois, North Dakota, and Kansas. If any of my blogging friends are anywhere close to where we will be, feel free to come and see us! I would love to meet you!
So, that's about all I have to say. Comments, anyone?

Flooding....
The water has receded a lot so far, but this entire area has been really affected - in fact, many of you have probably seen coverage on TV and such - it's made national news. It's been pretty devastating for many many people - our family was fortunate because we didn't lose very much - there were many people who lost everything.
So, basically, sorry that I haven't been keeping up on your blogs and posting on mine! Where we are staying does not have internet, so I have to come to our church in order to check mail and look at blogs. We don't know when we will get internet again, so please bear with me. I have many many pictures of the flood and from Holiness Camp that I will post as soon as possible.
So, please keep us and all of Iowa in your prayers! Iowa has been hit hard this last month with tornados and floods. Our family has a huge task ahead of us because we have to clean our house out, so please keep us in your prayers!
Even in the midst of all of this, we are still praising God for protecting us and for how much we were able to salvage. We truly are very fortunate! I would like to end this post with a verse of a song we sang in church this morning that so fits our situation! It's the third verse of "The Solid Rock":
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay!
(Chorus)
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your prayers!! We are so grateful to everyone who helped us move out of our house, who helped sandbag, and whatever else they may have done. It is so greatly appreciated! Like I said, hopefully pictures of the flood and Holiness Camp will be up soon.

Look who made the front page!

Our little Nikki made the front page of our local newspaper yesterday! She knew she would be in the paper, because the reporter asked for her name and age and said she would be appearing in the paper the next day. But she had no idea it would be so huge and on the front page!! It has been the talk of the day! She is enjoying her moment of fame! :-)
Oh, and mom wants to make sure you recognize her in the background. :-)

Invites and Hamburgers
As I said, we were busy getting Deanna's announcements done and folded and addressed and all of that fun stuff. We had a good time though. :-)

::Uncle Bob and Grandpa trying to get the grill going - and having a rough go of it::
::Nikki ready to cheer for her team!::

::Grandpa, Brian and Lindsey::
::Delaine wanted to save a parking spot for my dad, so she set one of our chairs in the parking spot!::
::This added some excitement to our night! We got to meet and get our picture taken with Eddie Olczyk - an NHL sports commentator! How exciting!!::

::Dad and Mom::As I said, we ended up winning 4-1! So it was an extremely fun evening all the way around! :-D
We'd like to ask for your prayers tomorrow as we head to Nebraska for a revival. Please pray that God will provide us with good weather, safe traveling mercies, that our van will run smoothly, and that those who are in attendance at the services will be challenged, changed, and encouraged!
